Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation

The Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation (YAF, www.hkyaf.com) is a charity that provides access to high quality, non-competitive, free-of-charge arts experiences for all young people aged 5 to 25. Established in 1993 by Lindsey McAlister OBE, JP, YAF organises inclusive and inspirational projects that reach out to youngsters of all cultures, backgrounds, languages and abilities, and actively creates opportunities for those who are disadvantaged and underprivileged.

Each year, HKYAF reach over 800,000 people through its projects, exhibitions and performances.

The Yuva Ekta Foundation (yuvaektafoundation.org) is a not-for-profit Trust that works at the intersection of youth and governance, spanning a canvas that integrates young people from marginalised as well as privileged backgrounds. Through workshops, plays and youth festivals, the Foundation creates platforms that impart a sense of dignity and self-respect to each participant and sensitises them into becoming pro-active citizens. The Foundation reaches out to schools, NGOs and juvenile observation homes in Delhi.

The Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation & the Yuva Ekta Foundation come together this February to create a 3-day theatrical experience for young people. Beginning with a physical theatre workshop that includes basic yoga, body movement, power-play and even Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed, it goes into short performance spaces. The finale is a paper puppet theatre workshop that introduces a new medium of expression.
